Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is out February 5th and Digimon fans here in the West have been waiting a while for a decent Digimon game.
The JRPG came out in Japan last year where it received favourable reviews and decent sales. Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth had Western fans of the franchise, wondering if the game would ever get localised, given that the previous game – Digimon Re:Digitize, wasn’t. (I’m not counting Digimon All-Star Rumble which was a brawler. Also it wasn’t that good).
However at Tokyo Game Show 2015, it was announced that Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth would be localised – and there was a collective cheer from Digimon fans around the world, including myself.
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth was announced for a PS4 and PS Vita release. Also at TGS 2015, there was a new Digimon game announced called Digimon World: Next Order – however, only for Japan.
It’s got people thinking that if they buy Cyber Sleuth and show Bandai Namco that there is still love for the series here in the West, there’s a chance Next Order might get localised as well. In other words, there’s a lot riding on Cyber Sleuth.
Let’s hope it does well because Digimon is awesome and its Western fans (including myself) are loyal and still love and appreciate the franchise.
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is scheduled to release in the US February 2 and in Europe February 5 for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.
