The Silent Assassin returns… in gorgeous, next-generation glory.
Titled Hitman, the latest instalment in Square Enix’s franchise sees Agent 47 travelling the world, taking on more contracts and killing in style.
This is the only Hitman game to be without a subtitle, due to it being a reboot of the series. Over the last couple of years we have seen quite a few successful reboots, one of the most prominent is Tomb Raider, also published by Square Enix.
Described as a “world of assassination”, Hitman breaks free from the previous, more linear Hitman: Absolution. Although a brilliant game, it was linear at times. You can tell that the developers have listened to the community and gone back to their roots, like the fantastic Hitman: Blood Money.
There has been a lot of speculation around this new title since its reveal at Sony’s E3 2015 conference. IO Interactive, the developers of Hitman have reprised David Bateson in his role as the Silent Assassin.
IO plan to release the game in an episodic fashion. There will be no micro-transactions, thankfully. Just free updates which add new contracts, maps and equipment.
Given an 11th March release date, many gamers are eager to get their hands on this latest introduction to the series, including myself.
Overall, the new Hitman looks really promising, just from the gameplay that is surfacing on the web. Hopefully IO Interactive can deliver another exceptional instalment in the series and keep it thriving for many years to come.
